Guided Ascent to Cerro El Plomo for groups of 15 people

3 days (approximately)
Offered in: English and 1 more

If you have been looking for a challenge that changes your perspective, this is your moment: get ready, join the expedition, and experience what it feels like to be at the top of the central Andes. Cerro El Plomo (Apu Wamanii, which translated means "Guardian of the Valley") is not just any peak: it has more than 5,000 meters of Inca history, glaciers, and views that few get to see with their own eyes. It is a demanding challenge, with changing weather, wind, cold, and a summit day that tests body and mind, and precisely because of that the reward is so great. You don't need to be a mountaineer to achieve it, but you do need to arrive in good physical condition, with the right equipment, and the desire to surpass yourself; join the experience with the muleteers, the logistics, and the support you need so you can focus on enjoying every step.

What to expect

Day 1: At 8:30 AM we leave from Valle Nevado for a gentle and suitable trekking for everyone, lasting 4 to 5 hours and about 750 m of elevation gain, to Federación (4,100 m a.s.l.), the base camp. With the support of muleteers from Farellones, we walked lightly and acclimatized for the summit.

Day 2: We leave early in the morning for the summit, a more demanding day at a slow pace of 7 to 9 hours, depending on physical condition and weather. On the way we will see the pirca where the Boy of Lead was found, and we will cross the Iver glacier, (if there is snow, we will use crampons). Then we climbed to the ridge and reached the summit, with an incredible view of Apu Wamani, as the Incas called it.

Day 3: After a good breakfast and stretching, we begin the return to the starting point, seeing Inca vestiges and condors. We close with a toast and, without unforeseen events, we will be back at 5:00 PM.
