Neemrana is also known as the heart of the ‘golden triangle’ as it is located at an equal distance from Jaipur, to Delhi. Entering this city is like entering a time machine as it is full of majestic forts, temples, lakes, springs and museums. Neemrana Fort Palace is the highlight of the city.
Drive to Samode (approximately three hours) and check into the Samode Palace Hotel, a heritage property with marble floors, intricate wall tiles and ornamented pillars. Make sure to admire the exquisite Diwan-i-Khas covered with original paintings and mirror work.
Day 3: Samode – Nagaur (B, D)Have breakfast, and then make the 5-hour drive to Nagaur, a historically important and beautiful desert town crowned by Naguar Fort, considered to be the greatest example of a Rajasthani land fort in the area. Check into your hotel, located in the fort. Spend the day visiting forts and palaces in the area, including Hadi Rani Mahal, bedecked with intricate mural paintings, and Deepak Mahal, a fortress boasting wall-to-wall floral designs. At Akbari Mahal, enjoy the ample amounts of art and detailed architecture inside and outside the palace, and at Zenana Deori, admire incredible ceiling and wall frescoes that look like they could be the work of an Indian Michelangelo.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, and then take an excursion to Khimsar fort palace, an ostentatious Baroque palace about an hour’s drive from Nagaur. Later, explore the village of Nagaur, and then take a leisurely but exciting camel safari in the evening.
After breakfast, about a 3-hour drive, and check into Nimaaj Palace. It was here that Rao Uda Ji, grandson of Rao Jodha Ji (founder of Jodhpur) became a sovereign ruler of Nimaaj and Jaitaran, and founded the sub-clan popularly known as Udawat Rathores. After getting comfortable in the hotel, head out on a countryside jeep tour. Go from village to village to meet artisans, craftsmen, shepherds and even a snake charmer. Then return to Nimaaj for a guided tour of the village.
The heritage palace Deogarh Mahal, a large, rambling, canary-yellow building. The Deogarh family converted the aristocratic home into a hotel, and some family members still live in the structure. Take a drive to explore the rural settings around Deogarh. You'll visit cave temples, including an intricately carved temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. From the top of the cavern, get an incredible view of your surroundings and the black volcanic rock that sprinkles the landscape. Later, drive to a lake for some refreshments and do some birdwatching as the sun sets behind the water.
Located to the south side of and part of the City Palace complex, work on this building was begun by Maharana Sajjan Shambhu Singh (1874 to 1884) and finished by his successor Maharana Fateh Singh at the beginning of the 20th century as a royal guesthouse.
Lake Pichola, situated in Udaipur city in the Indian state of Rajasthan, is an artificial fresh water lake, created in the year 1362 AD, named after the nearby Picholi village. It is one of the several contiguous lakes, and developed over the last few centuries in and around the famous Udaipur city.
The 18th-century City Palace, the interior of which is bedecked with paintings, wall murals and mirrors. From there, stop by Jagdish Temple, built in 1651 and dedicated to Lord Vishnu. After a drive around Fatehsagar Lake, visit temple-strewn Eklinji and then Nagda, one of the ancient Palaces of Mewar dating back to the 6th century. In the evening, transfer to the Udaipur airport for the flight back to Delhi.
Eklingji is a Hindu temple complex in Udaipur District of Rajasthan in western India. Eklingji is believed to be the ruling deity of Mewar Princely State and the Maharana rules as his Dewan.
