The Ribeira is one of the oldest and typical places of the city. Located along the Douro River, it is part of the Historic Center of Porto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Porto Customs House - The Alfândega Nova do Porto (the New Porto Customs House) was built by Seyrig Incorporation (the same company that made the D. Luis I iron bridge, in Ribeira), in the second half of the 19th century, and was completed in 1879.
Built as an alternative connection between Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia, the bridge had the biggest concrete arch in the world at the time of its construction in 1963.
A peaceful riverside garden retreat with lush greenery and stunning views of the Douro River and Dom Luís I Bridge.
Its first settlement was in the 6th century. A new fort construction was ordered by King John IV in the 15th century.
City Park - The City Park is the largest urban park in Portugal, with an area of 83 hectares that stretch out as far as the Atlantic Ocean, which is globally something of a rarity.
