This cloud forest tour allows you to walk through a wild orchid collection and visiting a beautiful jungle waterfall. For the ornithologists in the bunch, Mindo cloud forest is a birdwatcher's paradise!

Another of its attractions of this cloud forest tour is a butterfly farm where you will watch gargantuan butterflies dry their wings after emerging from their jewel-like cocoons inches away. You can dip your fingers into a banana concoction and then be thrilled as butterflies the size of birds land in your hands for a snack.

But there is more to explore. You can go "tubing" (with several large inner-tubes tied together) as our steely-nerved guides steer you through thrilling rapids. Or try canopy ziplining or perhaps visit a tiny chocolate factory where you will have a chance to follow cacao through the entire process, from its harvest to its becoming a delicious brownie or a cup of real hot cocoa.

We pick up passengers from all hotels located in Quito Old town & New Town. Pick ups from hotels located outsite these areas have an extra charge. Please contact the agency to check the extra charge.

What to expect

In the morning we take a 2 hours scenic drive through the western range of the Andean mountains, on the way it is very unique to see how the vegetation changes as we go lower in elevation, once in Mindo we will take a cable car (known as tarabita by the locals) to enter The Mindo Nambillo Forest Reserve, where we will hike for 2 hours to learn from our guide about the importance and the biodiversity of this ecosystem called The Cloud Forest, with some luck we may view different species of birds such as toucans, parrots, trogons, quetzals, etc. It is also posible to take a bath at the waterfalls, later your guide will suggest a place to eat in town, and then it is optional to visit the Chocolate factory or do one of the adventure activities like Ziplining or Tubing for an extra fee.

In the afternoon before heading back to Quito, we will have an stop at the Sachatamia Reverve to view over 20 species of hummingbirds.
