You will first sample gyoza at Nishiki Gyoza. After that, you’ll explore Nishiki Market while receiving guidance on which ingredients to buy to enhance your gyoza filling. As you stroll through the market, you’ll get expert recommendations on the best ingredients to use. Once you’ve selected your favorite ingredients, you’ll take a taxi to Samurai Gyoza Factory Kyoto, a traditional Kyoto townhouse, where you’ll make gyoza from scratch.
There is a ramen shop called “Manbuki Kyoto Nishiki Koji Store.” (万豚記 京都錦小路店)In front of it, there is Kyoto Bank. Please gather in front of the ramen restaurant.
Finally, you will make and eat your original gyoza at a facility called Samurai Gyoza Factory Kyoto.
Buy some gyoza from “Nishiki Gyoza” and taste them. Here, you’ll get a feel for the gyoza and start imagining what ingredients you’d like to mix into the filling.
For the first 15 minutes, you will walk with the guide without stopping until you reach Nishiki Tenmangu Shrine. During this time, you will take a quick look at the atmosphere of Nishiki Market and see what ingredients are being sold that you might want to use for your gyoza.
From Nishiki Tenmangu Shrine, you’ll take about 30 minutes to walk back through the market, this time stopping to purchase any extra ingredients you’d like to add to your gyoza. *Please note that the main filling — including meat and vegetables — is already prepared. You’ll only be buying additional raw ingredients that don’t require any cooking. Some shops may not accept credit cards, so please be sure to bring cash with you.
Finally, you’ll take the ingredients you purchased and move to a traditional Kyoto-style townhouse (machiya), where you’ll make your gyoza from scratch.
