Vientiane, the capital and largest city of Laos, is located in the banks of the Mekong River. This 8-hour tour is lead by an English-speaking guide who will take you to visit historic temples, national monuments, local handicrafts, and Buddha Park. Hotel pick up and drop-off is available from centrally located Vientiane hotels and lunch will be provided.
Take a sightseeing tour of Vientiane and visit religious museums of Wat Sisaket, the oldest temple to have survived from the Siamese war of 1828. Amazingly, its cloister contains more than 8,000 Buddha statues like Ho Prakeo, Pra Keo, and the Emerald Buddha statue.
Then, head over to the Luang Stupa, the single most important monument in Laos. It was built to cover the original small stupa containing a piece of the chest bone of Buddha. The Luang serves as the main and symbolic stupa in Laos. It's also the national symbol and is recognized throughout the world. In addition to being the biggest stupa in Laos, the Luang Stupa is considered to be a gathering place for national Buddhism ceremonies
Next, head to the Patouxay (Arch de Triumph), which was built recently in commemoration of those who died during past wars. Today it serves as the land-mark of Vientiane. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and then head towards Carol Cassidy to continue sightseeing. This place serves as a gallery for weaving Lao textiles and displays the natural dye making process from A-Z.
Afterwards, make your way over to Buddha Park on the Mekong. This park features Buddha statues in modern style shapes. It also holds the largest Reclining Buddha in Laos which was built by a Lao man to teach future generations about religions worldwide after his study in India. You will return to Vientiane in the late afternoon.
