Tower of London
Meet your guide and head into the tower. You'll head straight to the Jewel House, which means you’ll be able to grab a prime spot to view the Crown Jewels. These monumental pieces of British history have stories that span centuries. You’ll hear about their fascinating past from your Blue Badge guide, an expert in national history.
Journey onwards to the interior of the Tower where you’ll hear the darker side of this structure’s history. See the sites where famous prisoners were executed. Afterwards, you’ll venture into the Bloody Tower to hear the story of the two princes, which has become a legend in its own right. Various sources say their ghosts are among the specters that have been sighted at the Tower at night. From there, step into the Torture Tower and learn about this horrid practice in British history. Though it has never been officially been permitted in English law, torture was used to extract confessions from prisoners brought to the Tower of London. You’ll learn about the instruments used from your expert guide who will provide context to the pieces you see before you.
You’ll step out for some fresh air—not to mention incredible views over the Thames. As you traverse the ramparts of the Tower of London, you’ll pass by Traitor’s Gate and hear the story behind its iconic name. Next, step inside the chambers of a former monarch in use when the building was a Royal Residence. You’ll also see the ravens kept within the Tower of London and learn just why their place is so important. (For the Opening Ceremony, select Complete Tower option)
At the White Tower, you’ll have the chance to explore the armory where your guide will give you an overview of the pieces on display. Afterwards, you’ll be able to explore further on your own, armed with the knowledge that makes this historic site come to life.
