It was made by fifth Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his deceased wife Mumtaz Mahal, after whom he named the building Taj Mahal. It is believed the Sanctum of the Taj Mahal holds the real tomb of Mumtaz Mahal. It took 22000 labors, 1000 elephants for its constructions. It took 22 years to complete this marvel.
