12-day itinerary:
Day 1: Fly to Lukla and trek to Phakding
Day 2: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar
Day 3: Acclimatization hike in Namche Bazaar
Day 4: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche
Day 5: Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche
Day 6: Acclimatization hike in Dingboche
Day 7: Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche
Day 8: Trek to Gorak Shep, visit Everest Base Camp and return to Gorak Shep
Day 9: Early hike to Kala Patthar and descend to Pheriche
Day 10: Trek from Pheriche to Namche Bazaar
Day 11: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla
Day 12: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu or Ramechhap and transfer to Kathmandu
Walk through Sherpa villages, cross suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River and visit Tengboche Monastery. Weather permitting, enjoy views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse and the Khumbu Glacier. Reach Everest Base Camp at 5,364 metres and hike to Kala Patthar at approximately 5,545 metres.
The trek normally involves five to eight hours of walking per day on steep, rocky and uneven trails. Previous climbing experience is not required, but good physical fitness and preparation are essential.
