Ghorepani Poonhill trek is one of the popular treks in Nepal. One can take the short Poonhill trekking package to the enchanting ridge of Poonhill. The trek passes through culturally rich villages like Ghorepani, Ghandruk, Tikhedhunga etc. Along with the sunrise view, Poonhill offers views of mountains like Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.

    Day 1

    Pokhara to Nayapul, and hike to Ulleri (Driving duration: 1.5 hours, Hiking duration: 5-6 hours)

    Nayapul Trekking Starting Point

    In the morning you will drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, which will be your trekking starting point. From here you will start your hike toward Ulleri.

    Next, you will start walking through the old villages and meandering green hills. Terraced paddy fields along the neighboring yet distant hills and the wind gushing in your face make for a pleasant and smooth drive with much time to enjoy the landscape. You will have your Lunch stop at Hile and commence walking to Ulleri via Thikhedhunga. As you reach Ulleri, you will check in to the lodge where you can have a traditional Nepalese mountain dinner.

    Hike from Ulleri to Ghorepani (hiking duration 4-5 hours)

    Ghorepani

    You will have breakfast at the lodge in Ulleri and then start walking to reach Ghorepani. During the journey, you will have many chances to learn and understand the way of life of the local mountain people. Along the path, you can enjoy the beautiful sight of mountains like Machhapuchhre, Himchuli, and Annapurna South, as well as the world's biggest rhododendron forest. In the afternoon, you will arrive at Ghorepani and check in at the lodge. You can then explore the village, talk to the locals and other trekkers, and enjoy a wonderful view of the Himalayan mountains from there.

    Hike from Ghorepani to Tadapani via Poon Hill (3210m) (Hiking duration: 6-7 hours)

    Poon Hill

    Early in the morning, you will start your trek to Poon Hill (3210m) to witness the first light of the sun. The trek takes you through villages that are culturally significant, surrounded by stunning mountains. At Poon Hill, besides enjoying a beautiful sunrise over Mt. Annapurna, you will also have a breathtaking panoramic view of several mountains, including the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountains.

    After having breakfast in Ghorepani, you will start your trek towards Tadapani (2610 m). The journey will take you through a dense forest filled with rhododendrons, bamboo, and oak trees. As you walk, you will have the opportunity to admire the beauty of nature, including waterfalls, rocks, wildlife, birds, and lush green valleys. Take your time to observe and appreciate the wonders of the natural world along the way.

    Hike from Tadapani to Nayapul and Drive to Pokhara (Hiking duration: 7-8 hours)

    Poon Hill

    After breakfast, you will begin your trek through jungle areas. Today's trek will be longer than the previous days. Along the way, you will pass through various villages, jungles, and streams. After walking continuously for 3 to 4 hours, you will reach the picturesque Gurung village called Ghandruk. Here, you will have your lunch and take some rest. Later, you will continue your walk towards Nayapul, enjoying the beautiful views of mountain ranges, green hills, and charming local villages along the way. Once you reach Nayapul, you will board a private vehicle and drive back to Pokhara.
