In the morning, a car will pick you up from your hotel and your trekking adventure to Mardi Himal will begin. You'll have a pleasant drive to Kande, which is a charming village situated on a hilltop near the popular city of Pokhara. Along the way, you'll get to experience the countryside scenery of Nepal. When you reach Kande, if the weather is clear, you'll be treated to a stunning view of the Himalayas. From there, you'll start your trekking journey towards today's destination, Pothana. The path will take you through picturesque villages, allowing you to soak in the beauty of the surroundings. Once you arrive in Pothana, you'll check in at the lodge for a comfortable stay.
During your trek, you will continue your journey through a forest filled with vibrant red sandalwood and rhododendron trees, as well as some open pasture lands. Today's trail includes a mixture of flat terrain, followed by a gentle uphill climb and descent, marking the beginning of the Mardi Himal Trek. As you make your way, you'll also pass through a dense forest. If the weather is clear, you'll be rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view of majestic mountains such as Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Manaslu, and other ranges.
Today, the trail gradually climbs through the rhododendron forest following the ridge. You can enjoy a closer view of Mt Fishtail and Mardi Himal. You will find yourself closer to a clear blue sky with a view of the Himalayan foothills. It’s a sweeping valley towards the south. There are a couple of local lodges in the Low camp for overnight stays.
As we continue our journey, the trail ascends along the ridge, leading us towards Mardi Himal and Mt. Fishtail. We will leave behind the tree line and enter the shrub by alpine zone. When the landscape transforms, you will be greeted by the sight of snow-capped peaks such as Annapurna South, Himchuli, and Fishtail. These majestic peaks loom in the distance, while the deep valley lies on either side. After the climb, we will reach High Camp, a small pasture area. Here, we will find ourselves above the clouds, and the snow-capped peaks feel closer than ever.
Today's trekking is more challenging compared to the previous days, as it involves a steep climb and a long walk. The trail becomes steeper at certain points, with uneven and rocky steps. The first steep climb will take approximately 2 hours to reach the ridge top, known as Mardi Himal Base Camp (MBC). However, the actual base camp will require another 2 hours along the ridge. Throughout the journey, the views are absolutely breathtaking. Mardi Himal and Mt. Fishtail will appear towering above you, while the distant sight of Annapurna I, Gangapurna, and Annapurna III adds to the awe-inspiring scenery.
Today, you will begin your descent toward Forest Camp. Although the scenery may remain the same, the season and sunlight bring about fascinating changes, making it an interesting journey. Take some time to soak in the beauty of the Base camp and observe how the sun's rays transform the surroundings. After breakfast, you will start your walk back down towards Forest Camp. Once you reach Forest Camp, you can either rest and relax or explore the nearby areas at your leisure.
After breakfast, you will descend steeply through a rhododendron and maple forest to Lwang village. This Gurung and Ghale village offers a glimpse into Nepalese countryside life and serves delicious organic food. You can also enjoy canyoning the nearby waterfall. After an organic lunch in Lwang village, you will walk down to the Mardi River basin and then take a vehicle back to Pokhara. Check-in at the hotel and relax for the day.
