Explore Normandy coast, the capital Rouen where the viking Rollo established his residence. In Rouen we will visit The Cathedral of Notre Dame where is burried Rollo, the founder of Duchy of Normandy and the place where Jeanne of Arc was burnt in 1431. Also, we will enjoy the famous port Honfleur where the Impressionist movement appeared. This last stop will mark the end of our authentic tour while also having time to exchange traveling impressions.
Rouen is famous because is the capital of the region of Normandy and it was one of the capitals of the Anglo-Norman dynasties, which ruled both England and large parts of modern France from the 11th to the 15th centuries.     Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Rouen

    Rollo, the Viking Leader and the founder of the Duchy of Normandy, was baptised here in 915 and buried in 932. His grandson, Richard I, further enlarged it in 950. St. Romain's tower was built in 1035. The buildings of Archbishop Robert II were consecrated in 1065

    The church of Saint Joan of Arc was built in 1979 in the center of the ancient market square known as the Place du Vieux-Marché. This is the place where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake for heresy in 1431.

    Honfleur

    The port houses were painted by famous painters as Gustave Courbet, Eugène Boudin, Claude Monet and Johan Jongkind. They formed the school of Honfleur which contributed to the appearance of the Impressionist movement.
