Departure from Cluj at 8:30 am, heading for north-eastern Romania. Lunch on the way, in Borgo Pass. Bram Stoker imagined Count Dracula’s castle might be somewhere around here… Stop on the way to have lunch in a restaurant. Visit the painted monastery of Moldovita, UNESCO world heritage site, famous for it’s Siege of Constantinople fresco scene.
Continue your journey with the visit of the most complete and best preserved of the painted monasteries: Sucevita (UNESCO heritage). If you’re looking for spiritual perfection, you may find inspiration here, observing the Ladder of Virtues fresco scene.
After breakfast, transfer to Radauti to visit Bogdana monastery. Built in the 14th century by Prince Bogdan I, the founder of the Moldavian principality, it is one of the oldest and most historically significant monasteries in Bucovina.
After lunch in a restaurant, continue with Voronet painted monastery, the most famous of all eight painted monasteries included in UNESCO heritage. Change to admire the Last Judgement scene.
Ancient Hutsul tradition, the decoration of the Easter egg using wax and natural colors is something you must not miss.
