Depart Cluj at 8:30 a.m. for a full-day immersion into the heart of Southern Transylvania. Your journey begins at the Sighisoara fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Europe’s last remaining inhabited medieval fortresses. As you explore, your guide will reveal the dark history and captivating legends of the fortress, including its ties to Vlad the Impaler, the real-life inspiration for Dracula. We'll climb the Covered Staircase to the Church on the Hill, wander through colourful medieval streets, and, if you wish, ascend the iconic Clock Tower (closed on Mondays) for breath-taking panoramic views—just as medieval guards once did. Note: inside visits to the Clock Tower & Church on the Hill can be substituted with free time to discover on your own.
After lunch, we head into the heart of the Tarnava wine region, a landscape defined by rolling hills and traditional Saxon villages. During an exclusive tasting, you will sample seven distinct wine varieties, expertly paired with palate cleansers to enhance every note. Return to Cluj in the evening.
