Journey back in time at the Houmas House Estate and Gardens as you take a guided tour of the grand antebellum mansion, just a short drive from New Orleans, Louisiana, and immerse yourself in the rich history of the old South. Costumed staff bring the era to life as they share stories of this former sugar plantation, and you’ll have time to stroll through the South’s Most Beautiful Gardens before or after your tour. While you’re here, enjoy a delicious Southern meal at one of our on-site restaurants— The Carriage House Restaurant, offering a refined Louisiana cuisine, or the Dixie Café, perfect for a casual experience.
The Houmas House gift shop is the main entrance. Upon entering, guests can redeem their voucher or purchase tickets. The gift shop attendant will direct all guests to the starting point for the guided mansion tour. Please allow at least 20 minutes to get to starting point of guided tour.
Guided mansion tours allow guests full access to the Houmas House estate. Dressed in period costumes, interactive tour guides tell the 250 year history of the mansion. Using artifacts, antiques and artwork, guests hear about life on this sugarcane plantation. Restaurants are available for breakfast, lunch and dinner at an additional cost. 38 acres of self-guided gardens are open to all guests who purchase a mansion tour ticket.
