2Chand Baori, Abhaneri
Chand Baori was built in the 9th century AD by King Chanda of the Nikumbha Dynasty in the village of Abhaneri, Rajasthan. It was designed as a vital water conservation structure and a community gathering place, helping residents cope with the region’s intense heat. Local legends even suggest the stepwell was built through magical means because of its remarkable symmetry and scale. Today, it’s known as one of the world’s largest and deepest stepwells, featuring about 3,500 perfectly aligned steps descending 13 stories to a central pool.

You’ll visit the Galtaji Temple, also known as the Monkey Temple. This pre-historic Hindu pilgrimage site is about 10 km from Jaipur and is considered one of the city’s hidden gems. The complex is known for its natural freshwater springs and seven sacred kunds (water tanks). The most revered is the Galta Kund, which is believed to never run dry. The area has a calm, old-world feel, with pavilions, shrines, and a lively population of monkeys that adds to the temple’s charm.
