Visit to Battambang from Siem Reap. A city in northwestern Cambodia, Battambang is known for its colonial buildings and artifacts from local Khmer temples. This is the perfect day trip to see rural Cambodia and some off-the-path sites from your central stay in town. A full-day experience that returns you to Siem Reap by 7:00pm.
Our tour guide and driver will meet you at the hotel lobby of your accommodation at 07:00 am and pick up you for the tour.
Depart Siem Reap at 7:00am for the three-hour journey to Battambang. Take a ride on a traditional rail vehicle called a ‘norry’ and the Bamboo Train, a unique railway track passing rice fields and local villages to experience local modes of transport once in town.
In the afternoon, we head to Phnom Sampov, a legendary 100-meter-high mountain topped by Wat Sampeou and home to 3 natural caves lined with Buddhist shrines and states: Pkasla, Lakaon and Aksopheak. Varying from uprooted stones and different cultural meanings, some of the caves were used during the Khmer Rouge as killing caves. A troubling look into the country’s history. The mountain is also topped with three stunning stupas. Your trip to the top is greeted by various shrines and grottoes to admire along the way.
