First, we head out to Marigot for 1.5 to 2 hours of shopping time. Then traverse back to the Dutch side to explore Philipsburg, the shopping paradise of the Caribbean. The bustling boardwalk boasts a dazzling array of shops and vendors, with the highest concentration of jewelry stores globally. Souvenir shops, bars with Caribbean
rums, swimwear boutiques, and more await your discovery.

    Marigot

    Marigot, the capital of French Saint Martin, located on the western coast, a picturesque town that blends colonial charm, Caribbean flair, and a touch of Parisian sophistication. Historically a fishing village. “Marigot” comes from the marshes (marigots) that once surrounded the area. Fort Louis, built in 1789, overlooks the town and offers panoramic views of the bay. On Rue de la République admire 19th-century Creole homes with gingerbread trim and colorful facades. A strong French identity lingers, with bakeries, boutiques, and cafés lining its streets. Marina Port La Royale offers upscale shopping with European designer brands. Marigot Market is a lively hub for local produce, spices, crafts, and infused rums.
