A Wild & Wonderful 2-Day Island Adventure
Discover K’gari on foot, behind the wheel and in the water on this two-day adventure combining guided pack-free walking, 4WD exploration, freshwater swimming and comfortable beach house accommodation.
Walk through beautiful forests, explore remarkable freshwater lakes, experience the thrill of driving K’gari's sandy tracks and discover the natural wonders of the world's largest sand island.
With a maximum of just six guests (walking), this small-group experience offers the freedom to explore K’gari at a more personal pace, with time to walk, swim, discover and enjoy the island's extraordinary landscapes.
And when the day's adventures are over, return to comfortable beach house accommodation. No tents, no heavy overnight packs — just a hot shower, dinner and a proper bed.
Quad share accommodation, maximum 6 guests walking but up to 20 guests over all on the 4wd tour.

1K'gari (Fraser Island)
Walk through towering forests, swim in a freshwater lake and experience K’gari's spectacular eastern beach. Your Wild & Wonderful K’gari adventure begins with a ferry crossing from River Heads to K’gari, travelling alongside our 4WD tour group. Once on the island, journey along sandy 4WD tracks to your starting point on the K’gari Great Walk. Leave the vehicle behind and set off on foot through towering forests, following the walking trail towards the spectacular Lake Wabby lookout. Take in sweeping views across the immense sandblow and the striking green waters of Lake Wabby before descending towards the lake itself. Enjoy time to swim in the refreshing freshwater, soak up the scenery and experience one of K’gari's most remarkable natural landscapes. With just your day pack to carry, you can enjoy the walk at a comfortable pace. Stop along the way for a packed lunch surrounded by the island's natural beauty. Reunite with the 4WD tour group in the afternoon at Lake Wabby entrance

2Lake Wabby

- Min 2 people required to operate this hike, max 6 people per hike. If you are a solo hiker please enquire and we can book you onto a hike with others.

- The 4WD transfer goes from the Fraser Dingo 4WD Adventures office to the River Heads Barge and then onto Fraser Island to your hiking destination. Hiking on Fraser Island is subject to the Great Walk hiking tracks being open, keeping the tracks open is based on a precipitation level, due to fire safety. This is monitored by Queensland National Parks, as they can close the hiking tracks with little notice especially in the warmer months of Nov - March, therefore we only run this hike from March to October to ensure safety and confirmation.
- However in the event of a track closure or dangerous weather conditions, beyond our control, Fraser Island Hiking will offer a full refund or an alternative option (such as a 4WD hire or tag along tour - costs may apply).
- Pickups are only from accommodation listed from 7am.
