London can feel overwhelming when you first arrive, with so much to see and the major sights spread across the city. Our private Classic London Taxi Tour makes it easy.
We’ll collect you from your hotel or another central London location, then you can settle into your own modern black taxi with room for up to six guests and a panoramic glass roof.
Choose a 3, 4 or 6-hour tour and let your experienced London taxi tour guide take care of the rest. We’ll make sure you see the London you came for, from Buckingham Palace and Westminster to St Paul’s, the City of London and Tower Bridge, with plenty more along the way.
There is no following a flag, waiting for a group or worrying about getting lost in the crowds. Your guide can adapt the tour as you go, stop for photographs and spend more time on the parts of London that interest you most. Just sit back, enjoy the view and let us take care of London.
We can pick you up and drop of at any central London location or hotel. We will text you on the cell phone you provide us with before your tour. We will tell you the name of your guide and his/her cell phone number. They will let you know when that have arrived at the location.
Heathrow airport and Gatwick are not in central London. They are both over 1 hour's drive from central London. If you book a tour and want to be picked up from Heathrow, we need to arrange your transfer and additional charge.
Your guide will collect you from your hotel or another agreed central London location. From there, the tour is completely private and flexible — there is no fixed route from A to B and no standard list of compulsory stops. Your guide will shape the tour around the time you have and what interests you most. You might want to get out at Buckingham Palace for photographs, while another guest may prefer to see it from the taxi and spend more time somewhere else. Photo stops can be made throughout the tour where practical, and the route can change with traffic, road closures and what is happening in London that day. No first visit to London feels quite complete without seeing Buckingham Palace. Your guide will take you through the surrounding royal quarter and share some of the stories behind the Palace, the Royal Family and this part of London. If you would like to stop for photographs, just say — where traffic and access allow, we’ll happily make time for it.
One of the great London views. The Palace of Westminster, Big Ben and the Thames all come together here, and it is usually one of the places first-time visitors most want to see. Your guide will explain what you are looking at and, if you would like photographs, will use their local knowledge to find the best practical place to stop.
Westminster Abbey has been at the heart of royal and national life for centuries, from coronations and weddings to funerals and great state occasions. On this tour we normally enjoy the Abbey from outside, with your guide bringing its history and stories to life as you explore Westminster.
Travel through the heart of British government along Whitehall, passing the entrance to Downing Street and some of London’s most important government buildings. Your guide can explain the history behind Number 10 and the people and events connected with this surprisingly small but world-famous street.
Nelson’s Column, the National Gallery, fountains, lions and one of London’s great meeting places. Trafalgar Square sits at the centre of so much London history and is also a useful point for your guide to show you how Westminster, the West End and the City begin to connect.
Sir Christopher Wren’s great dome has dominated the London skyline for more than 300 years. Your guide will share the story of St Paul’s, the Great Fire and the rebuilding of London, and if you would like a photograph we can usually find a good viewpoint without turning the tour into a fixed stop-by-stop itinerary.
Nearly 1,000 years of history sit behind these walls. Palace, fortress, prison, armoury and home of the Crown Jewels — the Tower has some wonderful stories attached to it. We normally explore it from the outside on this tour, leaving your guide plenty of time to tell you about some of its more colourful characters and events.
One of the sights almost everyone hopes to see in London — and still regularly confused with London Bridge. We’ll take you through the Tower area and, depending on the route and traffic, aim to give you a great view of the bridge. If you want that classic London photograph, let your guide know.
London grew around its river, and travelling alongside the Thames gives you a wonderful sense of how the city fits together. Depending on your route, you may see the London Eye, Shakespeare’s Globe, Tate Modern, the Shard and several of London’s historic bridges along the way.
One of London’s most characterful neighbourhoods, Covent Garden is known for its historic market buildings, theatres, street performers, independent shops and lively atmosphere. Depending on the length of your tour, the traffic and what interests you most, your guide may also take you past other London favourites such as the London Eye, Shakespeare’s Globe, the Shard, Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, Fleet Street, the Royal Courts of Justice and some of the City of London’s oldest streets. And remember, this is not a fixed “bus-stop” itinerary where every guest follows exactly the same route. Your private taxi tour is shaped around you, so some sights may be enjoyed from the taxi, while at others you may choose to stop for photographs or spend a little more time. Your guide will use their knowledge of London — and what is happening in the city that day — to make the very best use of the time you have.
