Zum Franziskaner: This Munich institution, located directly across from the Residenz, is one of the city's oldest and most respected traditional inns. While famous for its beer hall and sit-down Bavarian cuisine, we head straight to their exclusive counter for the true local classic: the Leberkassemmel (warm meatloaf served in a fresh roll). Their version is often cited as the absolute best in Munich—a hearty, perfectly seasoned snack that is the ultimate taste of Bavarian comfort food. Alternatively we head to the Viktualianmarkt for their version.

Nürnberger Bratwurst Glöckl am Dom: Tucked right beside the Frauenkirche (Cathedral), this historic tavern specializes in one thing: authentic Nuremberg Rostbratwürste (small grilled sausages). We'll step inside this traditional, cozy spot to appreciate its rustic ambiance and sample these perfect, charcoal-grilled delicacies, which are still cooked over an open beechwood fire, offering a truly regional taste experience. Should this be full we will visit one of the other three equally good restaurants right next door to this venue.
