Mardi Himal is a classic trekking experience in Nepal's Annapurna region, offering a mix of culture and breathtaking Himalayan views. The trek starts just a short drive from Pokhara, at the road head in Phedi. We ascend through the forest to Dhampus village, passing by multiple trekking routes including Australian Camp and Ghandruk. At Pitam Deurali, we head towards Forest Camp and continue through rhododendron forests towards High Camp for stunning views of the Annapurna range. The Upper Viewpoint along the Mardi Himal ridge offers a panoramic view of the Annapurna Sanctuary. If weather permits, we can also walk to Mardi Himal Base Camp.

    Arriving in Kathmandu on a clear day is an awe-inspiring experience, as the magnificent Himalayan peaks are clearly visible from the plane and situated just a short distance north of the Nepalese capital. Upon clearing customs, you will proceed to the passenger pick-up area outside the terminal building where you will see a prominent signboard bearing the name of our company, Mountain Company. Here, our representative will be eagerly awaiting your arrival and extend a warm welcome to Nepal. After being transferred to your hotel, you will be given a comprehensive trek briefing by our team. The remainder of the day will be at your leisure, giving you the opportunity to explore Kathmandu and make any final preparations for the trek. During your stay, you will learn the traditional Nepalese greeting 'Namaste', which will undoubtedly remain a cherished memory of your holiday.

    Drive to Pokhara and overnight

    After enjoying a hearty breakfast, we will begin our journey to the beautiful city of Pokhara. The most convenient mode of transportation for this leg of the trip is the tourist bus, which will offer a comfortable and affordable way to travel. The morning departure will allow us to enjoy the stunning scenery en route and reach Pokhara in good time. Once we arrive in Pokhara, we will check into our accommodations for the night. This city is famous for its breathtaking natural beauty, which includes tranquil lakes, rolling hills, and stunning mountain views. There are plenty of activities to keep you occupied during your stay, including boating on the serene Fewa Lake, exploring the local markets and shops, and taking in the stunning views from nearby viewpoints. Overall, this portion of the journey promises to be an unforgettable experience, filled with natural wonders and opportunities for adventure and relaxation alike.

    Drive to Phedi and trek to Pothana (1,925M)

    After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we will set off on a scenic drive along the Seti River valley towards the trek starting point at Phedi. The drive will take approximately an hour and provide a wonderful opportunity to soak in the stunning natural beauty of the region. Once we reach Phedi, our trek will begin as we make our way through the lush forested foothills of the Annapurna Mountains. As we climb upwards for about 2 hours, we will arrive at the charming Dhampus village, located at an altitude of 1,650m. Here, we will be treated to magnificent views of the iconic Mount Machhapuchhre, also known as Fishtail. Continuing along the trail, we will arrive at the cluster of cozy lodges at Pothana, situated at an altitude of 1,925m. This location offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain range and promises to be a serene and peaceful spot to rest and recharge before continuing on with the trek.

    Trek to Forest Camp (2,600M)

    Leaving Pothana, our trek will take us up to the picturesque Pitam Deurali. At this point, we will turn off from the main Annapurna Base Camp trail and venture into a dense forest of oak, maple, hemlock, and rhododendron. This stretch of the journey promises to be a breathtaking experience, filled with stunning views of the natural surroundings. As we make our way through the forest, we will eventually arrive at our destination for the night, one of the cozy lodges located in a beautiful clearing of the forest. Known locally as Kokar, this location is also referred to as Forest Camp and promises to be a peaceful and serene spot to rest and rejuvenate after a day of trekking.

    Trek to Low Camp (3,150M)

    Continuing our trek from Forest Camp, we will make our way through the forested trail adorned with moss, lichen, and tree ferns. As we climb higher, the scenery will gradually shift, with the lush greenery giving way to an abundance of rhododendron and bamboo. Our journey will lead us to the charming cluster of lodges located at Low Camp, where we will spend the night. This location is known for its breathtaking views of the majestic Mount Machhapuchhre, also known as Fishtail, which can be seen up the valley. The serene and tranquil surroundings, coupled with the stunning natural beauty of the region, promise to make this an unforgettable experience.

    Trek to High Camp (3,600M)

    After spending a relaxing evening at Low Camp, we will continue our trek, making our way towards the stunning Mardi Himal ridge. As we climb higher, the landscape will gradually shift, and we will eventually break out above the tree line, revealing breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding region. To the West, we will be treated to a stunning vista of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli, while the trail will continue up along the Mardi Himal ridge, flanked by lush grasslands and beautiful rhododendron bushes. This stretch of the journey is known for its frequent sightings of the colorful Danphe pheasant, adding an extra touch of excitement to the trek. Our destination for the day will be the cozy cluster of lodges at High Camp, where we will spend the night. The location promises to be a serene and peaceful spot, providing the perfect opportunity to relax and take in the natural beauty of the region.

    Trek to Upper Viewpoint and back to low camp

    We will rise early to catch the sunrise over the majestic mountains. After a breakfast, we will embark on a trek up the ridge towards the stunning Mardi Himal. The trail will lead us through lush green grasslands, with a few steeper sections on rocky terrain. Along the way, we will encounter dzos, a crossbreed of yak and cow, grazing in the area. During the summer months, this area also serves as a grazing ground for sheep and goats from lower villages. As we ascend higher, we will pass several herder’s huts, before finally reaching the Upper Viewpoint at an altitude of 4,200m after three hours of trekking. This vantage point provides a spectacular panorama view of the Annapurna Sanctuary, with the south face of Annapurna, Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) dominating the skyline. After soaking in the stunning views, we will return to High Camp for a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, we will make our way back down to Low Camp.

    Trek to Siding Village and drive back to Pokhara

    During the return trek from Low Camp, we embark on a different path compared to the way we came up. We take a steep trail downwards towards Siding village, which is a charming and traditional Nepalese village, and a perfect spot to take a break. At Siding, we reach the road head, and we then travel to Pokhara by jeep. We pass through the scenic villages of Kalimati and Ghalel before arriving at Lumle, from where we head to Pokhara.

    Drive back to Kathmandu

    After completing your trek in Mardi Himal, it is time to return to Kathmandu. You will be transferred to the tourist bus park in Pokhara, where you will catch a tourist bus back to Kathmandu. The bus ride is a great opportunity to take in the stunning scenery of the Nepalese countryside, with its terraced rice fields, rolling hills, and picturesque villages. The drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu is approximately 200 kilometers and takes about 6-7 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. The road winds through the hills and valleys of Nepal, offering panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas. During the journey, you will pass through several towns and villages, including Mugling, the gateway to the Chitwan National Park, and Kurintar, where you can catch a cable car to the famous Manakamana temple.

    Departure

    On the final day of your trip, after breakfast, you will be transferred from your hotel in Kathmandu to the Tribhuvan International Airport for your flight back home. Your transfer will be arranged by our company and you will be accompanied by a representative to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey. The journey from your hotel to the airport typically takes around 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. Once you arrive at the airport, you will need to check in for your flight and go through security before boarding your plane.
