Starting in the late afternoon, as the light softens over the Grand Socco, we’ll journey through Tangier’s bustling Main Market and old medina where locals shop, eat, and unwind at day’s end. This is Tangier in transition, when the city glows gold before dusk and the aromas of dinner begin to fill the air.
Over the next four hours, we’ll taste our way through the city’s culinary heart. Sample mountain jben cheese with honey and almond amlou, savour creamy chickpea calientes, and visit decades-old eateries known only to locals for their fragrant tagines. Go underground to a communal oven to learn about Tangier’s fiery food traditions, watch delicate wacqa pastries being handmade, and end the evening with nutty Arabic sweets and house-roasted spiced coffee, among many more surprises.
With 15+ tastings across markets, backstreets, and hidden kitchens, this twilight feast captures Tangier's food scene as locals know it.
Meet outside Cinéma Rif, an old art-deco cinema located on the Grand Socco at the edge of Tangier’s medina. It’s easily accessible from most hotels and riads in the city. The tour lasts approximately 3.5 to 4 hours depending on the pace of the group and concludes back at the same meeting point.
