From our meeting point at Praça do Comércio (Commerce Square), you’ll see place like the City Hall of Lisbon, Augusta Street and its famous Arch, Santa Justa Elevator, Rossio Square, São Domingos Church, the Jewish memorial, the Square and Monastery of Carmo, Camões Square and much more.
Look out for the guides with an orange umbrella at Praça do Comércio (Commerce Square) in front of the big arch. IMPORTANT NOTE: Our guides are volunteers who offer tours for tips. The fee only covers the cost of booking via this plataform.
The tour ends at Praça Luis de Camões, next to the monument.
We'll see Praça do Comércio, the biggest square in Lisbon and learn about the Great Earthquake of Lisbon that destroyed about 80% of the city.
You'll hear the history of the imposing Augusta Street Arch, one of the most famous landmarks in Lisbon and what it represents to the city.
We'll visit the Municipal Square, where the City Hall is located and learn about the end of Portugal's Monarchy.
We'll walk by Augusta Street, the most important street in Lisbon and learn why the area was built as a grid.
We'll see the famous Santa Justa Elevator, the only elevator of the kind in Portugal and learn its the connection to the Eiffel Tour.
We'll visit Rossio Square, the oldest square in Lisbon, which has been around since the XIII century and lear about the Portuguese Stones and the escape of the Portuguese Royal family to a foreign country.
We'll see the São Domingo Church, one of the most unique churches in the world and learn about one of the saddest episodes in Lisbon's history behind it.
You'll learn about "ginjinha", the most famous liquor in Lisbon and why this shop became an institution in the city.
You'll see one of the most unique buildings in the city, Casa do Alentejo and discover about the moorish influence in Portugal's history.
We'll see Avenida Liberdade, Lisbon's Champs Elysees and discover when it was built.
You'll learn the history behind Rossio Station, the first central Station in Lisbon and its magnificent architecture style that is just found in Portugal.
As we reach Chiado area, we'll see the charming Carmo Square and the reason why the church is unfinished. You'll also learn about the Portuguese dictatorship and the revolution that put an end to it.
As we walk around Chiado area, you'll see the fancy shops from the area, the famous Café A Brasileira, a meeting point for the writers and poets in the XX century and also see Luis de Camões Square, one of the most important meeting points in Lisbon and hear about the most famous Portuguese poet.
We'll end the tour with the amazing view of São Pedro de Alcantara viewpoint and enjoy the nicest view of the city from here.
