The National Archaeological Museum of Naples is made up of three main sections: - The Farnese Collection: contains masterpieces of ancient Rome. We can admire busts and precious ornaments, prestigious marble sculptures such as the Venus Callipyge and three statues of the Baths of Caracalla, in Rome: the Farnese Hercules, the Farnese Atlas and the Farnese Bull, the largest single sculpture yet recovered from antiquity in the world. - The Pompeian Collection: the museum preserves the largest number of works from the archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Amongst it all, the famous mosaic of the battle of Isso shines. The rooms boast incredible bronze sculptures from the House of the Papyri, precious objects, mosaics and frescoes that remained immune to the time and the lava of Vesuvius. In the Secret Cabinet, a red-light room, exhibits of an erotic nature are on display. - The Egyptian Collection: is the oldest in Italy and is the third most important in the world. It consists of about 2,500 pieces including statues, amulets, mummies and human remains.
