Depart from Underberg or Himeville for a full-day 4×4 adventure into the highlands of Lesotho, a land of dramatic mountains, rolling alpine plateaus, and vibrant cultural traditions. Travel the legendary Sani Pass in a high-clearance 4×4 with an experienced local guide, navigating steep switchbacks, rugged terrain, and mountain streams. Your guide shares insights into the Drakensberg’s geology, history, and life in the highlands. As you ascend, stop at scenic viewpoints for photos and to take in the vast mountain vistas, cascading waterfalls, and deep valleys. The ride itself is an adventure, offering thrills and unforgettable landscapes.

2Lesotho
At the summit, cross into Lesotho, the “Kingdom in the Sky.” Rolling alpine grasslands dotted with stone huts and grazing livestock create a timeless, remote atmosphere. Choose your experience: Basotho Pony Riding: Guided by local riders, explore mountain trails on sure-footed Basotho ponies, taking in breathtaking scenery and experiencing the landscape as locals do. Village Immersion: Spend extra time in a traditional Basotho village, seeing daily routines, traditional crafts, and family life, with the chance to taste freshly baked Basotho bread. Lunch is served in the highlands, either as a picnic with sweeping views or at a local mountain eatery, offering hearty traditional fare.
