    Kathmandu Durbar Square

    The Kathmandu Durbar Square situated here is a beautiful manifest of ancient royal architecture. It is situated in front of old royal palace in of the former Kathmandu kingdom and is one of three durbar squares in the Kathmandu valley. It has unique architectural values, mix of the multiple origins, along with the fusion of Newari artists. It held over the Malla and Shah Kings who ruled over the city. Along with these palaces, it has the historical, religious and architectural combination of different temples, Murtis, culture and traditions. It consists of Trailokya Mohan Narayan temple, Hanumandhoka, Hanuman statue, Basantpur Tower, Kaal Bhairab, Ashoka Binayak, Dhansa, Taleju temple, Kotilingeshwara Mahadev temple, Indrapur temple, Bishnu temple and Kumari Bahal.

    Swaymbhunath

    Swayambhunath temple is one of the holiest Buddhist Chaityas in Nepal, residing inside the western part of Kathmandu valley. It is also known as ‘Monkey Temple’. This is the best place to see the entire city, as it is located in the top of hill. It has some architectural importance as well, the stupa consists of dome at its base above which, there is a cubical structure painted with eyes of Buddha observing the all directions. The dome represents the entire world, eyes symbolizing the wisdom and compassion, curly signal symbolizing the nose represents the unity of all things in the world. The literal meaning of Swayambhu is self-existence. According to an inscription found dating back to 460 AD, this temple was built by King Manadeva during 13th century. The Swayambhunath temple is immersed as an important place for Buddhists. Some legend states that the Swayambhu was born from a lotus flower that bloomed in the middle of a lake that Kathmandu valley in ancient times was.

    Boudhanath Stupa

    Boudhanath Stupa, also known as Chaitya, is one of the largest structure’s stupas in the world. It is also a pilgrimage site for Buddhists. It is remembered for its architectural values, ancient Buddhism philosophy and the Historical aspects. It is located around 11 Km from the center and northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu. This is one of the most popular holy site for Buddhist followers inside the Kathmandu valley. This stupa is made up in a Mandala shaped area and has a giant dome. It is the center hub of Buddhism in Nepal and is surrounded by hundreds of monasteries. Licchhavi rulers renovated the staple during 8th century, which has made on the shape of a Mandala.

    Pashupatinath Temple

    Pashupatinath temple is the most revered and worshipped Hindu temple in Nepal. It is situated on the banks of Bagmati River. This temple is dedicated to lord Shiva and there are also Buddhist chaityas around the premises. Pashupatinath temple offers a mix of religious, cultural, and spiritual experiences. Around Pashupatinath premises there are a lot of holy temples and shrines including Deupatan, Jaya Bageshori, Gaurighat (Holy Bath), Kutumbahal, Gaushala, Pingalasthan and Sleshmantak forest. There are around 492 temples, 15 Shivalayas (shrines of Lord Shiva) and 12 Jyotirlinga (phallic shrines). There is also a cremation site on the raised platform along the Bagmati River, where the last rites of Hindu followers are performed. ‘The aarati’ (performance of holy rituals dedicated to god), done by the priests in the shores of Bagmati river at the time of evening every day. The Pashupatinath temple is also the UNESCO enlisted temple site in Nepal.
