UNESCO karst attraction – the Skocjan Caves with fantastic underground natural phenomena followed by a visit of the Secovlje salt pans, the natural reserve.
The first stop is the UNESCO listed Skocjan Caves, one of the largest and most fascinating Karstic sites in Europe with the Reka River running 200m below the surface.
Continue to the unique reserve and the biggest wetland on the Slovenian coastline, where salt is produced in the same traditional way as 700 years ago. The abandoned southern part of the reserve features demolished buildings that were once used by workers in the salt industry that contribute to the charm of the Secovlje salt pans. The reserve became a habitat for various animals and plants.
