Located on the bank of Song Huong- Perfume River; Hue, the capital of Thua Thien Hue province in Central Vietnam, is 700 km southern Hanoi, 1100km northern Ho Chi Minh City, and only a few miles from the sea. Not until 1945 was Hue the national capital, the political, cultural and religious center of Vietnam under the control of Nguyen Dynasty. Most well-known for its historic values; Hue had been recognized as one of the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.

1Hue Imperial City (The Citadel)
During the period of Nguyen Lords, Hue was chosen as the capital of Southern Viet Nam (Dang Trong). The Lords Nguyen Phuc Lan and Nguyen Phuc Tan established a chief town in Kim Long between 1635 and 1687; Lords Nguyen Phuc Thai and Nguyen Phuc Khoat moved it to Phu Xuan in 1687-1712 and 1739-1774. Hue had been the capital of Quang Trung Nguyen Hue king-Tay Son period, and then became the capital of the united Vietnam when Nguyen Phuc Anh ascended the throne starting Nguyen dynasty which lasted 143 years. With its history closely connected with nine Nguyen Lords who were ancestors of later Nguyen emperors, it is understandable that Emperor Gia Long selected land lying in the middle of the country to build the Citadel for the Nguyen dynasty.

2Thien Mu Pagoda
Located beside the picturesque Huong River, Thien Mu Pagoda, with its ancient architecture, adds its charm to this beautiful natural setting. The sound of Thien Mu bell is like the soul of Hue, ever resounding over the Huong River flow winding its way in front of the Citadel to the sea, resonating in the hearts and minds of the people and of visitors to Hue, the ancient capital.

3Tomb of Tu Duc
Born in 1829 and died in 1883, Tu Duc had reigned for over 35 years since 1848, longest among rulers of the Nguyen Dynasty. His tomb, with some 50 constructions surrounded by a 1,500 m long wall, was built during 1864 – 1867.
