    Pompeii

The Archaeological Sites of Pompeii are located in Italy and are 2 kilometers from the center of Naples. The site is located at the foot of the Vesuvius volcano. Cities in Campania were often built by Greek settlers, Pompeii was not an exception because of the good fertile soil around the volcano. The city has been conquered several times in its history. Etruscans did so in the 6th century BC and in the 5th century BC, like the rest of Campania, by the Samnites. These conquests came to an end when the Romans defeated the Samnites in the 4th century BC.
