This tour begins with a scenic hike along the Flume Trail, one of the Black Hills' most fascinating and picturesque hiking routes, followed by a visit to the world-famous Mount Rushmore National Memorial.
The Flume Trail follows the historic path of an 1880s gold-mining water flume. This moderate trail winds through peaceful ponderosa pine forests, granite spires, and old mining remnants. Along the way, you'll walk through hand-carved rock tunnels, pass historic markers, and discover stunning views of canyons and hidden valleys.
After the hike, enjoy a relaxing drive to Mount Rushmore, where four of America’s iconic presidents are carved into granite high above the forest.
Stroll the Avenue of Flags, explore the interpretive exhibits, or relax with a view of the carving from the Grand View Terrace. This is a perfect place to reflect on your day of hiking and history amid the grandeur of the Black Hills.
