When you try scuba diving in Gran Canaria with Puerto Rico Diving, we make the difference. We always conduct our try dives in small groups as we believe this makes your first experience under water more relaxing and fun! We take everything at a pace you are comfortable with and allow you to discover a whole new world under the sea.
At Puerto Rico Diving we believe it is important that your first taste of scuba diving should be as relaxing, informative and safe as possible.
What's Included
Meeting and pickup
We offer a free pick up and drop off service from all accommodation in the southern costal towns of Gran Canaria (Playa del Ingles to Puerto de Mogan) If you do not require pick up and meet us directly at Playa de Amadores please note your activity time will be less than 3 hours as this time includes transfer. The activity will last around 2 hours in total if no pick up or drop off is required. If you require a pick up please let us know so we can arrange this for you. If you are unsure we pick up from your accommodation and it is something you require please contact us before booking to check it can be arranged. We will contact you directly with your pick up time as it will depend on the location you are staying. Pick up times will be between 8:10-9:00 (mornings) or 11:15-11:45 (afternoons) depending on where you are staying. We will confirm your exact pick-up time prior to your dive via e-mail. Please be aware we often have other customers to pick up at the same time so we kindly ask you to be there at the time specified by us via email. If you are more than 5 minutes late we cannot guarantee we can wait for you and you will need to make your own way to the dive site. If you are staying further away we can arrange to pick you up from the bus station in Puerto Rico. We can also advise you on which bus is best for you to use. There is a taxi point by the Europe Center where we are based if you prefer to travel by taxi.
If you have not selected pickup the meeting point of this activity is Playa de Amadores. We will send you a link with the exact meeting spot and time. If you do not require pick up and meet us the dive site please note your activity time will be less than 3 hours as this includes transfer times.
What to expect
-First your instructor will go through the paperwork with you and answer any questions you may have.
- Whilst you are filling in the paperwork we will start to get your equipment ready for the try dive.
- When everything is ready your instructor will give you a detailed briefing about what to expect in the water. You will put the equipment on and walk the short distance to the ocean.
-Once in the water your instructor will slowly introduce you to breathing with the scuba equipment. When you feel ready you will start in shallow water by learning a few basic skills, after this you will go for a guided dive under the direct supervision of your instructor.
*Please note if the weather conditions at Playa de Amadores are not suitable for diving we may take you to a different diving location further away.

- A minimum of 12 hours is required between diving and flying for 1 dive
- A minimum of 18 hours is required between diving and flying for multiple dives
- Not recommended for travellers with asthma or other lung conditions
- Travellers with health conditions such as Asthma, Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Recent Surgeries, Heart/Lung Disease, Sinus/Ear Issues and those taking Prescription Medications will be required to have a Dr sign and stamp a medical form to clear them to participate in this activity
- A Medical Questionnaire will be sent to you via a digital check in form within 24 hours of making your booking. You must read this and check you are fit to participate in our activity

- If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
- Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
- This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.
