Your friendly tour guide and driver will pick you up from your downtown hotel in Luoyang and head to Longmen Grottoes, located on both-sides of the Yi River to the south of the ancient capital of Luoyang, Henan province. The magnificent carvings ranks first among China’s grottoes, comprising more than 2,300 caves and niches carved into the steep limestone cliffs over a 1km long stretch.
After enjoy a tasty lunch at a local restaurant, continue to Longyang Museum, which is located in downtown area, is a reflection of the rich history of Luoyang city. It offers exhibits of the rich cultural heritage of Luoyang, a major Chinese cultural centre, which was the capital of more than a dozen ancient dynasties of the Xia and the East Zhou. There are more than 400,000 cultural relics in the collection and more than 11,000 cultural relics on display. You will be transferred back to your hotel after the tour.
Meet your tour guide in your hotel lobby and start you another exiting day. First, you will visit the White Horse Temple, the birthplace of Buddhism in China, having been first established in 68 AD under the patronage of Emperor Ming in the Eastern Han dynasty.The site also includes exquisite examples of Thai, Burmese and Indian temples.
After White Horse Temple visit, continue to Guanlin Temple, the place where Guanyu, the famous general of Shu Kingdom during the Three Kingdom Period, was buried. Therefore, Guanlin Temple enjoys another name of “General Guan‘Tomb” as well.
Then stop at a local restaurant and enjoy your lunch there. Afterwards, stroll around Luoyang Ancient Town, a lively place with residential areas, snack streets, souviner shops, and old buildings.
