As we cycle, we will make a stop at the House of Vuong Chi Sinh, who had been considered as the King by the H’mong people, where his family is still living in. The house is typical to the housing design of the White H’mong people, who prefer to live in very clean houses with graceful handmade rock fences surrounding their gardens.
We will also get over the “Heaven Gate” pass to reach Dong Van town, whose central market is in a nearly one-century old building with Vietnamese architecture since early 20th century. Have Lunch and walk around to visit the Old Quarter of Dong Van with one-century old streets before heading to Meo Vac.
The last 20km cycling is along Ma Pi Leng pass, the most difficult road the Vietnamese ever completed in top dangers. From here we can enjoy extremely beautiful mountain cliffs and see the Nho Que River as a tiny line at the bottom of the chasm.
Today’s ride is long but less challenging, as we mostly cycle downhill with fewer climbs. You’ll ride through rural landscapes, passing terraced fields and small settlements, experiencing the vibrant local culture of the H'mong and Tay people.
Leaving the town of Meo Vac, we start with a 5km climb before making a rest stop. Then, we enjoy a 20km descent, followed by a fairly flat 10km stretch. The surrounding landscape, with its striking limestone formations, offers a surreal vista of peaks, valleys, towers, and caves. After a gentle 250m uphill climb, we descend for 30km along flat terrain to the small town of Bao Lac, a peaceful town surrounded by mountains, offering a quiet retreat after a rewarding day of cycling.
Today’s ride will take you through a mix of rural countryside and mountainous roads. The journey features both gentle climbs and exhilarating descents. As you ride, you'll pass lush forests, rolling hills, and vibrant rice paddies, with occasional stops at small ethnic minority villages
