Learn about the Old Fort area where many Irish communities settled in the 1800s. KT O'Brien and Tom O'Brien are excited to present the Irish History of Savannah Tour. They are both especially passionate about sharing these stories as their first Irish ancestors came to Savannah in the 1850s. This is an opportunity to even hear stories passed down through families and oral tradition. The Irish have many tales to share! Join a real locals tour to learn about Irish in Savannah as early as the 1700s!
Please meet at the fountain in the center of Lafayette Square. It is the square just beside the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.
We end at the Celtic Cross in Emmet Park. It is just beside the river so you will be in a good place to keep on walking or grab a bite at one of the many wonderful restaurants nearby.
The Cathedral has a big connection to the Irish in Savannah. We will walk beside it and learn the history here.
We walk alongside the Colonial Cemetery which dates to 1750.

We end at the Celtic Cross in Emmet Park which used to be named the Irish Green after all the Irish immigrants who settled there.
