After Breakfast we meet our trekking crew who will accompany us for the next few days. our luggage will be taken by our trusty mules. The first scenery we will see are small oasis dotted with fields of barley and slopes of fig trees. The trail we are taking weaves through an incredible valley before we begin heading uphill onto the volcanic sides of the Saghro. After our descent we reach our camp and get prepared for our first exciting night under canvas. 5 hours walking.
After a tasty camp breakfast, we begin our ascent of Mount Kouaouche (2,500 m), one of the most prominent peaks in the Saghro Mountains. From the summit, we enjoy stunning views stretching south toward the Sahara and north to the High Atlas. We then descend to our rocky campsite at Igli. Total walking time: 4 to 5 hours. Route: Almou to Igli.
Today offers a total contrast to yesterday’s summit attempt. We’ll explore the beautiful Afourar Valley, with its small village nestled near incredible rock formations. This area is home to the famous Ait Atta tribe of southern Morocco. Our campsite tonight is close to the iconic Ali’s Gate. Walking time: 4 to 5 hours.
Today, our journey follows ancient trade routes connecting to the neighboring Sahara Desert. We’ll pass through small villages, hamlets, and farms in the Ighazoun and Tawdachte Valleys. This area is known for producing wheat, clover, carrots, henna, tomatoes, and almond trees. Walking time: 5 to 6 hours.
Today we make our final journey back to Ouarzazate or Marrakech. We travel past the snow-capped Atlas peaks and cross the scenic Draa Valley. We’ll stop briefly in Ouarzazate — known as the "Hollywood of North Africa" — where famous films like Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, Lawrence of Arabia, and Prince of Persia were shot. Afterward, we drive over the stunning Tizi n’Tichka Pass before arriving in Marrakech in the afternoon.
