The main tourist attraction in El Nido is a large-scale imitation of the nest of the Amazonian oropendola bird, built using vines native to the Amazon rainforest. Additionally, there's 'The Swing' for those seeking a bit of adrenaline; it will make you feel like you're taking a leap into the void and allow you to enjoy the beautiful landscape around you with even greater intensity. Nestled at the confluence of the Misahuallí and Napo rivers in Ecuador, the charming town of Misahualli stands as a renowned tourist destination. This tranquil enclave, off the beaten path, offers breathtaking jungle panoramas and an expansive sandy beach. Among the town's cherished inhabitants are its monkeys, frequently seen sauntering along the beach or exploring the central park.
Our journey will proceed as we board a paddle canoe, gracefully gliding across the lagoon. Along the way, we'll have the chance to witness an array of bird species, including the renowned hoatzins, as well as spot caimans and the majestic Amazonian fish, the PAICHE. After our canoe excursion, we'll embark on a brief walk on the island. Keep your camera handy, as the animals often blend seamlessly into the foliage. We'll then return to Misahualli Port to continue our ride to the Jungle reserve.
Registration is required for entry into the Rainforest. (Please have your passports ready for presentation). After a period of relaxation and settling in, one of our Naturalist Guides will provide you with vital information about the tropical rainforest, Amazon spa therapies, and the operations of THE RAINFOREST LODGE. Our knowledgeable guides will provide insights into the rich biodiversity, sharing fascinating details about the flora and fauna. Get ready to witness the daily activities of the animals inhabiting this vibrant ecosystem as we traverse the trail. You have the flexibility to choose the duration of your walk, ranging from 1 hour to 4 hours. Whether you opt for a leisurely stroll or a more immersive exploration, our guided jungle walk promises an enriching experience amidst the lush surroundings. The lodge provides rubber boots for walking.
Experience nature's refreshment with our River Beach & Tubing Adventure. After a jungle hike, enjoy thrilling river tubing, surrounded by the beauty of the river and Amazon rainforest. Drift downstream, guided by your hands, for a serene escape. Wear provided life jackets for safety and bring sandals for comfort. Return to the Lodge, rejuvenated by our natural escapade.
After dinner, prepare with a flashlight and rubber boots for a nocturnal adventure in the rainforest. Accompanied by our experienced guide, we'll search for caimans, amphibians, bats, owls, and night monkeys. Our guide will lead us through the forest or around the swamp and lagoon, ensuring an enriching experience. Rest and rejuvenate in our comfortable accommodations, surrounded by the tranquil sounds of the jungle.
Following breakfast at your lodge, prepare for an expedition into the rainforest. We'll ready our rubber boats for a trek to the Bajo Pusuno community, situated near the Napo Amazon River (Trek to Bajo Pusuno: 35 minutes).
Enjoy a picturesque journey along the Napo River, ensuring your camera is within reach, as you never know what captivating sights may appear amidst the trees or soaring through the sky. Life jackets will be provided for the ride along the Napo and Arajuno Rivers to the Rescue Center.
Meet your transportation for the return journey to Tena city and conclude our adventure.
The tour concludes in Tena city, where you have the option to either stay in this Amazon city or continue your journey to Quito city. Alternatively, you can venture deeper into the tropical rainforest, exploring destinations like Cuyabeno or Yasuni.
Experience an unprecedented encounter with ocelots or tapirs at AmaZoonico, a rescue sanctuary for Amazonian animals. Run by volunteer guides, the sanctuary offers insight into the fascinating, sometimes tragic, stories of its residents. From toucans to monkeys gradually adapting to life in the wild, and even anacondas fighting to readjust after being sold in the black market, the center's inhabitants provide a diverse and poignant narrative. Your visit to the animal rescue center contributes to the protection of these unique creatures. Continue the ride to Caiman's Lagoon: 20 minutes.
Upon reaching Anaconda Island, we'll take a leisurely stroll to Laguna de Caimanes. This area is a paradise for bird enthusiasts and photographers alike, offering the chance to observe caimans in the lagoon, the prehistoric bird "Hoatzin," woolly monkeys, squirrel monkeys, and much more. Before our visit to the Indigenous Family, we'll indulge in a delicious Box Lunch. During our time with the indigenous family, we'll gain insight into their agricultural practices, knowledge of medicinal plants, and traditional hunting methods, including the use of blowguns and handmade traps in the forest. Don't miss the opportunity to try your hand at using a blowgun—watch as the men demonstrate this traditional skill, and see if you can hit the target! Experience the captivating art of Amazonian women as they mold clay from riverbanks into exquisite vessels during our Pottery Workshop & Village Visit. Witness firsthand how local communities craft their tableware using materials from the forest, employing traditional techniques for decoration. You'll also have the opportunity to purchase crafts that pique your interest. Following this enriching experience, we'll return by motorized canoe to our jungle retreat, where you can unwind with spa treatments and other amenities. Return to the Eco-Lodge
After all these activities, return to the lodge to take a refreshing shower and retrieve your luggage before proceeding with the final leg of our journey. At the reception, you can coordinate the pick-up time for your transport to Tena city.
Upon arrival in the city of Tena, you'll have the opportunity to extend your adventure to Cuyabeno or Yasuni, or choose to return to Baños de Agua Santa or continue to Quito city.
