Your private guide and driver will pick up you from your hotel,and take you to visit the solemn Tiananmen Square, the national symbol of China located in the heart of the city. Follow your guide to have a morning walk around this city square and take photos of brilliant landmark buildings, such as the Great Hall of the People, the Memorial Hall of Chairman Mao and the Monument of the People's Heroes.
Walk through the Gate of Heavenly Peace with the great Chairman Mao's portrait on it; you come to this morning's highlight - the 600-year-old Forbidden City - the largest and the most intact imperial palace complex of the Ming and Qing Courts (1368 - 1911 AD). The majestic Forbidden City has 9,999 rooms! Which are the most essential and interesting parts? The veteran itinerary designer carefully selects the top 10 palaces for you, including major ones on the traditional central axis, and some special chambers on the east and west wings.
Continue to visit the Temple of Heaven, where the ancient emperors worshiped the God of Heaven and prayed for good harvest. Now it turns to be a large park, where local people do their morning exercise. You can join them and experience the leisure pursuits of local people.
Afterwards, head to Hutongs, typical narrow lanes between rows of courtyard houses. A delightful rickshaw ride and a visit to a local family will also be arranged, for you to feel more engaged in the traditional Beijing lifestyle. As today’s trip reaches its end, we will drive you back to hotel.
Your guide will pick you up at the lobby of your hotel. You will be transfered to Badaling Great Wall. Standing up here, you can see the wall going ups and downs along the mountain ridges.
On the way back to downtown, drive by the national stadium, also known as the bird's nest, which is the main stadium of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. You’ll have a short stop here to appreciate its exterior appearance and take some photos.
The last stop of today's sightseeing is the Summer Palace, one of the best royal gardens with graceful landscape and magnificent constructions built in the Qing Dynasty. Your knowledgeable guide will show you around. It is a fantastic resort for travelers to admire the peaceful landscapes and magnificent architectures. At the end, your guide and driver will take you back to the hotel and say goodbye.
