Today’s Tokyo city tour would be a testament to why Tokyo ranks highly on many travel lists. Let’s start our journey from the Tsukiji Outer Market. Although the once-largest tuna market here was a thing of the past, the outer market remains, housing many famous sushi and seafood shops, offering a glimpse of the place that closely touches the stomachs of the locals.
Then, continue to Meiji Jingu Shrine, which is dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. Pass through the huge torii at the entrance and follow the left-in and right-out rule like any other tourist, as the middle road is reserved for the deities. You might see a Shinto wedding here, in a very traditional and cultural way, which is expensive, USD 25,000 for a wedding attended by 40 people.
The next stop is the Imperial Palace, the residence of the Emperor of Japan. Walk the grounds and gardens outside the core office area, and you will find a rare huge green space in the city center where people run or relax. Don’t forget to take a photo at the iconic Nijubashi Bridge.
After your lunch break, follow the guide to catch a glimpse of old Tokyo in the Asakusa area. When you see the giant red lantern hanging on the Kaminarimon Gate, you’re right in Asakusa. Walking down Nakamise-dori Street, filled with lively food stalls and souvenir shops, you’ll enter the famous Senso-ji Temple. Feel the stark contrast between the devotion of the people and the busy hustle and bustle, take a look at the 1,400-year-old sacred Bodhisattva statue, and draw a fortune slip to make your day memorable. In the end, your guide will escort you back to the hotel for the night.
Today will be the highlight of your Tokyo tour, as we’ll make a pilgrimage to Mount Fuji, one of the largest active volcanoes in the world and a symbol of Japan. Your guide will accompany you on a bullet train ride to Odawara Station, where you will then transfer to the steepest mountain train in Japan, ascending to the Hakone mountains. After arriving at Sounzan Station, take the ropeway to Owakudani Valley, where you can see the extraordinary geothermal scene, with white smoke emanating from the sulfur springs, making the entire valley eerie yet attractive.
Continue the ropeway ride to enjoy the stunning view of Lake Ashi and catch a distant glimpse of Mt. Fuji. Then, follow your guide to take a 30-minute cruise on the Hakone Pirate Ship, where you can relax on the second floor or head to the deck to take in the beautiful scenery—the sparkling blue of Lake Ashi and the elegant peak of Mt. Fuji in the distance. Sometimes, the snow-capped summit may be hidden in the clouds. At the end, the guide will escort you back to the hotel in Tokyo.
On the last day of our Tokyo group tours, you need to get to Haneda Airport or Narita International Airport on your own. Have a great trip! We hope our service has created good memories for you!
