The whaleshark snorkeling experience is a seasonal activity. The whaleshark season starts in May and ends September every year. If you are visiting the Riviera Maya area between those months this is an experience you shouldn't miss!

The whale shark is completely harmless to humans, it is actually a very docile and curious creature. The Whale Shark swims very slowly on the surface which makes it easy and relaxing to swim with them.

What to expect

The Tour begins with a pick up at your hotel. The hour of your pick up depends on the location of your hotel. (We will confirm the exact time of pick up when you have completed your reservation.

South of Playa del Carmen: 5:50 am
Playa del Carmen: 6:10 am
Cancún: 7:30 am

At 8:00 we set off in the boat to search for the Whaleshark and mantas (about 50 min), once we reach the feeding area we will spend approximately 3 hours snorkeling with the Whalesharks and Manta Rays near the islands of Isla Mujeres and Holbox.

Afterwards we will stop off to snorkel on a Caribbean reef close to Isla Mujeres. When you get back on the boat, there will be a lunch of shrimp ceviche, guacamole and beverages waiting for you. After eating, we will head back to Punta Sam. We will be back at Punta Sam, Cancun at approximately 14:30 and head back to your hotel from there.
