Today morning after breakfast, meet your guide in the lobby of hotel and after a brief oriental of the tour leave for the sightseeing tour of Fort Kochi. The guide will take you to the most popular attractions.
Fort Kochi is a cultural melting pot of Kerala. Travellers from different walks of life and those from different countries such as Middle East and Europe have settled in Fort Kochi and have left their mark. Mattanchery is one such place and a famous land mark The Jews of Fort Kochi are one of them who embraced Fort Kochi as their second home after Israel. Here visit 17th century Jewish Synagogue, see the glass chandeliers and blue willow patterned Chinese floor tiles and admire Chinese hand painted porcelain tiles laid on the floor. Next visit 16th century Mattancherry Palace also known as Dutch Palace. It palace is one of the finest example of the Kerala style of architecture interspersed with colonial influences. The palace is known for its long and spacious halls along with its central courtyard and has beautiful collections of murals which depicts some of the great Indian epics such as Ramayana and Mahabharata. Continue further and proceed to 18th century Dutch Cemetry which is believed to the oldest in the country. (subject to permission granted by authorities)
Move on to visit St. Francis CSI Church, the first Portuguese church in India. The church is famous for its beautiful design and ambience. It is said that famous explorer, Vasco-da-Gama, was originally buried.
Before heading back to your hotel see Chinese fishing nets which are unique to Kochi. The nets were introduced by Chinese explorer. After the visit return back the comfort of your room.
Later in the evening see the Kathakali dance performance in local theater. P.S. :This visit will be combined with sightseeing tour if the tour is taking place in the afternoon session
Drive to Periyar, which is known for wildlife sanctuary and a beautiful lake. Arrive in the Periyar and check to into your hotel. This afternoon a boat ride has been planned on Lake Periyar.
Kerala is so picturesque that a lot can be covered on a road trip and that is just what we will do when we drive down to Kumarakom and Alleppey for an encounter with the charming back-waters of Kerala. Arrive and check into your hotel. Rest of the day has been kept open for independent activities.
Check out from your hotel room and head for brief boat ride to see the scenic views of the backwaters through the narrow canals. De-board and then you will be taken to Kochi airport to take flight to onward destination. The trip concludes with drop at airport.
