Bazaars + Temples. As we walk back to Rishikesh, you will again pass the local bazaars, Bharat Mandir ( 1200 years old temple) Raghunath Temple + Rishikund (holy water tank). Our guide will stop to explain the importance of these buildings and the gods that reside in them.
The world famous Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat is impressive. You can also enjoy a serene walk inside the local bazaar which is full of rituals and prayers, Ayurvedic items and herbs , enjoy the local life and culture and watch the cows and sadhus (holy men) sitting by the river
Mayakund is one of the oldest and most culturally vibrant neighborhoods in Rishikesh, located just a short walk from the sacred Triveni Ghat. The area is known for its narrow lanes, small shrines, and community-based lifestyle, where you’ll see local families, students from nearby ashrams, and shopkeepers who have run their stores for generations. As you explore, you’ll find eateries serving simple Indian meals, old-style sweet shops, spiritual bookstores, and small artisan workshops. Mayakund also serves as a convenient base for exploring Old Rishikesh. From here, you can easily walk to Bharat Mandir, Raghunath Temple, and Triveni Ghat, where the famous Evening Ganga Aarti takes place. The neighborhood becomes especially atmospheric during festival days, when streets fill with pilgrims, flower vendors, and devotional music.
