It is a unique spiritual and nature-filled adventure with this Neelkanth Mahadev Temple Trek, featuring a visit to the mystical Muani Baba Cave deep in the forest near Rishikesh.
Trek starts 7–8 AM with a private vehicle transfer from Rishikesh to the sacred Neelkanth Mahadev Temple.
Visit the temple, your guide will lead you on a downhill trek through the Rajaji National Park, a lush wildlife park known for its peaceful trails and natural beauty. This forest route offers a refreshing escape from city life, with chances to spot native birds and small wildlife.
On the return trek, you’ll stop at the Muani Baba Cave, home to a Hindu Naga Sadhu who has lived in spiritual seclusion since childhood. Visitors can interact with the Sadhu, gaining rare insights into ascetic life, meditation, and Hindu spiritual traditions.

Neelkanth Mahadev Temple is a sacred and famous temple located 32 km from Rishikesh. Scenically situated on a hill at a height of 1330 meters. The Neelkanth Mandir is associated with a famous Hindu mythology. It narrates the story behind the temple’s unique name. According to the Hindu legend, the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple stands at the same place where Lord Shiva consumed the poison. This was at the time of Samudra Manthan or the churning of the oceans by devas (gods) and asuras (demons) Shiva stopped the poison in his throat to enter his body due to which his throat turned blue. Therefore, Shiva got the name “Neelkanth” meaning “The one having a blue throat”. To commemorate Shiva’s sacrifice for mankind, devotees built this temple at the same spot where this event took place. .
