At the appointed time we will meet at Cologne Central Station and take a train that will take us to Germany's westernmost city: Aachen.
After an hour of travel, we will leave the station and begin a guided tour of the historic center of Aachen. First, we will cross one of the entrances to the medieval wall, Marschiertor, which dates back to the 13th century After an hour's journey, we will exit the station and begin a guided tour of Aachen's historic center. Finally, we'll arrive at Aachen Cathedral and its Treasury, a colossal monumental complex whose origins date back to the 8th century. You'll be amazed! And would you like to learn about the connection between this cathedral and the ancient king of the Franks? We'll discover all about his history at our next stop: the Charlemagne Centre.
We will admire the quintessential building of Carolingian architecture, the famous Aachen Town Hall, and pass by the bourgeois house converted into the Couven Museum and the picturesque fountain of dolls, the most famous in the German city.
We'll end this tour at the most important tourist center of 18th-century Europe: the Elisenbrunnen Palace. Afterwards, you'll have an hour and a half of free time to continue exploring Aachen on your own.
Finally, we will meet up again with the guide to take the train back to Cologne.
