Listen to live fado inside the only shop in Porto that still hand-makes Portuguese guitars. This performance takes place at Casa da Guitarra, the only shop in the city that still crafts and displays handmade Portuguese stringed instruments, such as the Portuguese guitar. For an hour, listen to traditional fado performed live by local artists, with the Portuguese guitar played by the luthier and founder himself. The venue is small and acoustically intimate, designed to let you experience the emotion of fado up close. Enjoy the music with a glass of Port wine. More than just a concert, it’s a cultural immersion: you can explore the exhibition of traditional instruments and discover why fado has been recognised as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2011. The venue is situated in the historic centre, just a stone’s throw from the Cathedral, with sessions in the early evening and at night. Seats are limited; book in advance to secure yours.
