It is a 1.5 hour drive from Munich to Salzburg. Experience the beauty of Salzburg, home of Mozart and the Sound of Music. You will start with a tour of the city including Sound of Music locations and a lot of Salzburg's history. The tour of the city includes Salzburg's best viewpoint, Mirabell Gardens, the old town, Leopoldskron castle (von Trapp house). After touring the city of Salzburg, the drive continues to the Lake district of Salzburg.
The Lake and the Castle Fuschl. Experience your first Sound of Music memory at the ecclesiastical Renaissance castle Fuschl, located on a headland above the emerald green lake. The castle was used in the film`s opening scene and other panoramic shots.
Not far from lake Fuschl is lake Wolfgang. The lake and the region served as a filming location for the picnic scene (rack-railway to Schafberg), and scenic shots.
The Sound of Music film crew took advantage of the entire Lake Region, like children hanging into the trees, some more scenic shots of the lake area and finally the famous Sound of Music wedding church in the charming 'Salzkammergut' village Mondsee.
After 8 hours exploring Salzburg and the ‘Salzkammergut’ lake region, your private tour will conclude with drop-off at your Salzburg City hotel or optional at the train station for heading back to Munich (1,5 hrs).
