Lake Sevan is the largest body of water in Armenia and the Caucasus region. Sevanavank is a monastic complex located on a peninsula at the northwestern shore of Lake Sevan in the Gegharkunik Province of Armenia, not far from the town of Sevan. Initially the monastery was built at the southern shore of a small island. According to an inscription in one of the churches, the monastery of Sevanavank was founded in 874 by Princess Mariam, the daughter of Ashot (who became a king a decade later). At the time, Armenia was still struggling to free itself from Arab rule.

It is located in Dilijan National Park (Tavush region of Armenia), at the altitude of 1400 meters above sea. It is about 7 kilometers far from Dilijan city.
Haghartsin is a 13th-century monastery located near the town of Dilijan in the Tavush Province of Armenia. It was built between the 10th and 13th centuries (in the 12th under Khachatur of Taron); much of it under the patronage of the Bagratuni Dynasty.
