4 hours 30 minutes (approximately)
Offered in: English and 1 more

Join Florencia in her Buenos Aires apartment for a traditional Argentinian pastry cooking lesson in which you will learn to cook something savory as well as something sweet. Begin your experience with a small picada (a traditional Argentinian meat and cheese platter) and welcome drink. Then you will start making your empanadas, starting with making the dough and preparing one filling from scratch. Your filling might be traditional ground beef with spices and onions, caprese (tomato, basil and mozzarella), or humita (a northern Argentinian filling with corn and a béchamel-like sauce). While the empanadas are cooking, begin to make your pastry dish.

You will learn to make two or more traditional Argentinian pastries such alfajores or membricho tart, before sitting down to enjoy your sweet and savory creations together - such a great way to connect with a local!

What to expect

Immerse yourself in this authentic baking class in Buenos Aires with Florencia, a professionally trained pastry chef who learned Argentine recipes from her grandmother. This private, hands-on cooking class takes place in her welcoming Barracas apartment with stunning city views.
During this 4-5 hour culinary experience, master traditional Argentine dishes from scratch. Start with a picada—an artisanal platter of meats and cheeses—then learn to make empanadas by hand, preparing fresh dough and fillings like savory ground beef, caprese, or humita (a northern Argentine corn specialty). While your empanadas bake, craft classic pastries including alfajores or a quince tart.
"When you cook, you put so much of yourself and love into the food," shares your host, who left her embassy career to pursue her culinary passion. Her grandmother inspired her journey, and now she brings that warmth to travelers seeking authentic cultural experiences in Buenos Aires.
Enjoy your homemade creations together in true Argentine style along with local wine—the perfect blend of hands-on learning, local hospitality, and delicious flavors. Vegetarians and/or gluten-free guests are welcome.
