The Colosseum is also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre is the largest amphitheater which was completed in AD 80. The colossal amphitheater is said to accommodate around 50000 spectators. It was used for gladiatorial contests, mock battles enactments, mythological dramas, animal hunts, and executions until the medieval ages.

The Colosseum as we see it today is broken from one side due to natural disasters, earthquakes, and also due to the visitors who carried the pieces as souvenirs.

    Rome’s greatest amphitheatre was commissioned by Emperor Vespasian in AD 72 on the marshy site of a lake in the ground of Nero’s palace, the Domus Aurea. Deadly gladiatorial combats and wild animal fights were staged free of charge by the emperor and wealthy citizens for public viewing.

    On the next visit, you can choose Palatine Hill, which is the centremost of the Seven Hills of Rome, is one of the most ancient parts of the city and has been called "the first nucleus of the Roman Empire. The site is now mainly a large open-air museum while the Palatine Museum houses many finds from the excavations here and from other ancient Italian sites.

    At the end of your visit you can go to see The Roman Forum, also known by its (Italian: Foro Romano), is a rectangular forum (plaza) surrounded by the ruins of several important ancient government buildings at the center of the city of Rome. Citizens of the ancient city referred to this space, originally a marketplace, as the Forum Magnum, or simply the Forum.
