Depart Fes and travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in Ifrane, a Swiss-style ski town, and continuing through the cedar forests of Azrou, where you may see wild monkeys. Pass through scenic Berber villages and mountain landscapes before stopping for lunch in Midelt. Continue toward the Sahara, enjoying views of the Ziz Valley oasis, before reaching Rissani and heading into the desert by 4x4 to Merzouga. In the afternoon, meet your camel guide and cross the dunes of Erg Chebbi on a sunset camel ride to your desert camp. Arrive at camp, enjoy mint tea, dinner under the stars, and a magical night in the Sahara.

Wake early and walk across the dunes to watch the sunrise from just behind the Algerian border, about 50 kilometers from Merzouga. Ride your camel back across the desert sands to take a shower and enjoy breakfast before the drive back to Rissani by 4WD vehicle. Return to Fes, and benefit from comfort stops on the approximate 7-hour journey. See less
